Drip... drip... drip... round four!

We spent an hour in the fourth-floor lobby this morning, waiting to see the doctor's assistant (Charlie is out this week). It's not too bad, actually, the big, leather reclining chairs would fit in nicely in our theater room:

I'm always blown away by the million-dollar view of Lake Union from this floor:

For some reason, I always end up fixating on the "turn now" arrow that seems to be haphazardly bolted to the side of a nearby I-5 on-ramp. Doesn't it look like this sign is a little too little, too late? Like a turn signal on the edge of the world.

Okay, back to reality... checked in at 9 a.m. for port-placement and blood draw. Kelsey is off this week, but we got another really nice nurse, and everything went fine.

A quick meeting with Jackie (playing the role of Charlie in this week's episode) to go over blood work, followed by the usual trip to the cafe:

...takes us up to... round four of chemo. Yay, chemo!

And she's out:

Gidget will write more from home later.

  1. Hi, Jay and Gidget,
I'm so glad you were able to get round number 4 done. That must be a relief. I have to agree with Acey, Gidget, you look beautiful no matter what. He must get that good taste from his dad!

Jay, the arrow/corner sign is so funny- too little, too late for sure!

It's nice that you guys are working with a facility that has such a nice setting- the view, the cafe, and of course the great doctors and nurses. I am so grateful that that all that goes towards making a tough situation a little easier.

I am officially on Spring Break starting right now...(still in my office but heading out now). Talk with you all soon. Stay strong!
    Love, Michelle

  2. Hi Beach Family-
First of all, Gidg - you are super cute no matter what, with hair and I bet without!! In fact, I would love to see a few pics of you modeling some of Acey's hats in "before and after" pictures - just to prove my point =-). With all of the people that I know who went through chemo - everyone of them seemed to grow hair back that was truly even better than before - I think it must be the reward for all that had to be faced in the cancer and chemo process.

From Jay's emails to Don & I, sounds like your guys are having fun picking out your new kitchen cabinets and planning for your new home...I can't wait to see it! Once I am on Spring Break (one more week of school still) - I want to bring our puppies (if the vet says it is OK with the timing of their shots) and head to Poulsbo for a visit - you can also put me to work in any way that you want!!

Michelle, enjoy your Spring Break - boy, do you deserve one after all of your hard work so far this year - your kiddos are so lucky to have such a wonderful principal!!

I, myself, am going to enjoy our beautiful spring weather by gardening and spending quality puppy time with Juliet and Jatoba.

Yeah, round four, Gidget, you are nearly half way there, sweetie!! Love you all, Mel

  3. Hey Beach family,
It's always great to see your blog. I'm glad you're on round 4 of the nasty drip...drip....but am really sad you have a cold on top of everything else!

I too, love the turn arrow....I mean, don't you think it's obvious!!

Gidget, you look great and you should believe Acey! Acey knows what he's talking about. Keep up your spirits and hopefully you can enjoy some of this fantastic weather we are having!

    Love, Joni & Jeremy

  4. Hi Gidget, Jay and Acey -

We were sure glad that you are able to go ahead with your 4th treatment Gidget. You look awfully serene and pretty in your pictures. The blanket is really nice. I am going to be sure that the lady who made it for you gets on your site, so that she can see it.

For those of you who had not heard about it, the blanket was given to Gidget by a lady who underwent cancer treatment herself. After she recovered she started a ministry to make blankets to give to other chemo patients. As Gidget has mentioned several times, she said that when she had the chemo treatments that it was very hard to stay warm.

Jay, you look like you are following up your eat-fest at Portland with some more good food in your picture.

Acey, it is sure nice of you to give your Mom all the support. You have a huge selection of hats if she decides to wear them.

Love you all and have you constantly in our prayers.

  5. Hey Beach Clan:
I was happy to read that round four went so well both during and the side effects after! Gidget, I am sure the Ace Man would have a blast getting to pick out which hat you get to wear each day! I bet he would even lend you his "Antika Security" hat if you are especially nice to him!
Thanks for stopping to see Fevzi and the truck Tonka. I miss my two boys while I am here in England. The trip has gone really well so far although to be honest with you I am already sick of being up at the crack of dawn!
Hi to everyone else, I love all of you.

  6. Hey Gidet,

Hope you are having a great week and feeling good!! I see you guys went to Portland and had a chicken and Biscuit!!! I have actually eaten one of those exact ones that Acey had and they are awesome!! Proabably not too healthy but worth every 10000 calorie bite! Portland is one of my favorite cities and i go once or twice a year to see my cousin and her husband.

I also wanted to tell you that im going to be moving to Loveland, CO and will be working on my Texas accent....my husband to be and i will stick out lick a sore thumbs im sure:)

But just wanted to drop a note and let you know your Texas family is still praying for you and hopes all is well.

    God Bless,

    Hayley Jo Pickens
