Sick... but ready for round four

I came home sick from our trip to Portland. It might have been a little too much for me. So, yesterday I went to the doctor at Virginia Mason on Bainbridge Island. I wanted them to check my white/red blood cells, platelets and my immune system. The doctor at first thought I had strep throat. I could barely talk and my throat really hurt. He said he could see sores on my throat. But, it turns out it wasn't strep throat - he tested for that. So, I think I just have a bad cold, itchy eyes, runny nose, coughing, sore throat, etc, etc... overall feeling pretty icky!!

Today, I got a call from VM and they said everything looks "fine". My platelets are up again, so hopefully, I can get my chemo treatment on Friday. They will fax my results to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, so I should hear from them before Friday.

Also, my hair started falling out. Not in clumps, but there is a lot of hair in my brush :(. Of course Acey keeps telling me he can't tell the difference. He is such a sweet son, he tells me I look "beautiful". Kind of like when your dad says you look "beautiful". I'm not buying it :). I don't think I will go completely bald, but I think my hair will get very thin. Acey says I can borrow his hats if that happens. I will have several to choose from - as many of you know, he has lots!!!

  1. Hi Gidget - Sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well and hope you rebound totally.

I think when your Dad said you were beautiful, that he was telling the truth.

As for the hair loss, I hope it is only minimal. We have enough Follicle(ly) Challenged people in the family already.

We love you - Ed and Joyce
