My Son

Many of you have asked if I am still walking. I have continued to walk every day. I usually walk half a mile three days a week and then a mile and a half four days a week. Yesterday, I began riding the stationary bike for 30 minutes. I plan on doing that every day. We are all taking my exercise seriously due to the benefits exercise has in fighting cancer, especially colon cancer.

Acey and I walk together when he gets out of school. I think it makes him feel like he is helping me get better and that he has a part in my healing. We usually use that time to have some of our best talks. I took a few pictures of him on our walk today. He is wearing his most favorite sprig hat that I knitted him...

When we returned from our walk, Acey gave me the following note: "From: Ace To: Mom I love you very mutch and you are the best mom evere. I culdn't have got a beter mom. love, Acey." He also composed a song with music notes and attached that to the note as well. It was so cute, because he took it so seriously and sang the song to me. He must be learning about composing in music class.

Being a mom doesn't get any better than that. He just amazes me with his thoughtfulness, charm and humor every day. We LOVE HIM!!!

For fun, my friend Robin came over this afternoon for lunch, girl talk, laughing, crying and knitting - mostly girl talk and knitting :)!! For fun we decorated Valentine cookies for the ones we love. I thought they turned out pretty good, and they were delicious...

  1. Hi Gidget,
You are really becoming a great writer. I can't imagine a more loving description of a Mother/Son relationship than what you just described.

You have every right to be proud of him and "LOVE HIM". He is quite a Little Man as I have always called him. He has gotten a lot of creativity from you.

We will have you in our prayers even stronger with your second treatment coming up tomorrow.

  2. Enjoyed reading about your walks with Acey. My son, Keaton, and I use to have good little talks while working the flower beds. He is now 25, but I still remember those sweet times.
Cookies look yummy!! Take care, Tammie

  3. Hi, Gidget
I agree with Daddy- your loving description of Acey and how you and Jay feel about him just about brought tears to my eyes. We were all very blessed when Acey came into the world.

Glad you are hanging out with some girlfriends some days...nothing like girl talk, knitting, beading or shopping to make you feel better!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and sending good peaceful vibes your way. With love and prayers, Michelle
P.S. I got your e-mail about the silver- I'm still buying from Fire Mountain- and every once in awhile on E-bay (the most recent jump rings I bought on E-bay were a good deal). The price of sterling has gone up signifcantly. Good luck!

  4. Hey Gidge:
Fevzi and I will be thinking about you as you go through your second Chemo treatment tomorrow. I was very impressed with how well you did with the first treatment. Having such a positive attitude, good family support and most of all how dedicated you have been about walking is paying off. Keep up the good work but eat more!

    Love Meridee and Fevzi

  5. I'm glad to hear you are able to exercise so much. You make us healthy people look bad! :) I sure do miss seeing you. Will you have free time the weekend after Valentine's Day?
I hope things go alright with your next treatment. Is it identical to the last one?? Just curios, since we cannot talk.
Miss you! (and you have a very cute son!)
    Love,
    Laurie

  7. Hi Gidge-
Your description of the joys of being a mom brought tears to my eyes - tears of joy! I, too, look our daughters and am amazed every day at how special they are! And then there are grandchildren, wow - when you hold that little bundle of joy in your arms some day for the first time, Gidget, your heart will melt even more. Acey will make a great dad and husband some day...and that is due in huge part to the parents that he has =-). Keep walking and talking with him - I know you will - you two have inspired me! After my walk this morning, Don & I are going to make a second visit to see our one month-old red setters today, will take pictures and e-mail them to you, we are pretty excited! Love you lots and lots, Mel
