Gidget had her long-awaited colonoscopy at UW Medical Center today. Our hope was that the second polyp they found during her last procedure could be removed laparoscopically.
If they couldn't remove this polyp with the scope, we would have to start gearing up immediately for a more complicated, open surgery. Remember our holiday season last year? Needless to say, that's the last thing Gidget wants to deal with this year.
Not only was the doctor (Dr. Saunders) able to remove the polyp during the colonoscopy, but the whole procedure lasted all of 30 minutes. Nice! We collected Acey from Grandma's house and went out for a celebratory dinner on the way home.
Gidget has more lab work and an appointment with Dr. Whiting scheduled for Thursday. The goal for Thursday is to go over test results and get the plan from Dr. Whiting... what to expect next, where we go from here. Today was a banner day - we really couldn't have gotten any better news at this point!
