No chemo? Howsabout camping instead?

Gidget already mentioned that her platelets were too low for round 10, so... as soon as I got home from work Thursday night, we hooked up the Airstream and headed for Crescent Beach. This is our favorite camping spot in Washington state, and it's only about 90 minutes from our house. Perfect.

We have spent a bunch of time kicking back in the trailer, walking on the beach and (as usual) eating way too much. We went to a really cool classic car show this afternoon in downtown Port Angeles. I'll post a few photos below, but you can see the rest of them here: 2010: Camping at Crescent Beach. We'll probably take one more hike on the beach Sunday morning, then pack up and head for home. We'll let everyone know how Gidget's blood work turns out on Thursday.

  1. Hello! I'm so sorry that you were feeling poorly and your platelet count was low - how wonderful that you were all able to go to Crescent Beach! I love the photos - looks so beautiful and peaceful. Sam and I just got back from a road trip (part work and mostly fun). We did 2,460 miles over 9 days! He's a trooper. Take good care Gidget and we'll cross our fingers for Thursday.

  2. My neurolical disease gives me permanent neuropathy, so I know what you are going through. I have terrible balance and trip more and more as I get older. I hope it gets better for you.
Your camping trip looked fun! I miss camping. I grew up doing it and even did it in College, but not since. I guess I need to go out and buy a tent! :) See you on Thursday at 11:30, but I do not know where yet.

  3. Hey Guys:
Cool looking duck legs sticking out of the back of the truck but the poor thing has torn web feet! You all do run into some strange animals!

The camping trip sounds like a blast and I love the flamingo lights and pillow (plus the pic of Acey and Gidget). That is such a beautiful trailer and I am glad the three of you are out having fun in it!

  4. Hi Jay, Gidget and Acey - I noticed the duck feet right away too. Acey, I assume that they were added artificially and have not just turned that way from all the walking along the beach.

Love you all lots and look forward to seeing you after the reunion.

  5. The trailer looks awesome! I'm not sure if I should show Joey because he might drive over to your house, hook it up to our truck and steal it :). I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, my beautiful Aunt Gidget, but it was so awesome that you were able to go to Ikea with us a few weeks ago and camping looked very relaxing. Love you all!!

  6. What a beautiful place to camp and just enjoy our world. Gidget, I am praying that you are feeling stronger and that the count is higher this week.
    Love and prayers,
