Just for the record... Gidget wrote this post the day after Mother's Day, but I dropped the ball on posting the photos (these things are a team effort). Everything is a go for chemo round #7 tomorrow (Friday), so we'll write more from SCCA – Jay
Hi All,
First of all, I wanted to wish all the Mothers a VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY. I hope yours was as nice as mine. I woke up to roses, a card made by my son and a beautifully wrapped calender that he also designed.
For the month of April, he drew a picture of an open door with a firecracker popper dangling from it (April Fools). As many of you know, his favorite joke to play on his Mom is to strategically place firecracker poppers on closed doors and drawers, so that when I open them, it causes a BIG BANG!!! When he and his Dad went to Texas last year, the entire house had been rigged with explosives. I was so paranoid to open anything, so I had to go around the house and check every door, even then, there were a few I missed and found them days later.
When his Papa Ed was here last month, he had the idea to get him back. Something that never even occurred to me. I guess you need the Beach brain for mischief :). Anyway, we got him good. We rigged up his bedroom door. He wasn't even expecting it and he opened the door... BANG!!! HA..... Revenge :)!!
I wanted to let everyone know that I am doing well. I was not looking forward to the sixth round of chemo, but turns out my fears were incorrect. I have had a good week and feel pretty good, considering.
I have gotten more serious about my exercising. The weather has been amazing and it has been really good for my physical and mental well being. Jay and I went for a really nice long walk on Mother's Day. Along the way we took pictures to show my scenic route.
The work on the new house is moving right along. We should be able to start moving in within the next week. We already moved all the outside items over and emptied our shed and disassembled it. We had help from Auntie Merd and Gayla, so with two extra cars and hands, we were able to get a lot done. I feel like we are on track. Again, I am very thankful for all of the help that we have had. We really could not have done all of this ourselves.

Hey Gidget... I'm so glad to hear you had a pretty good week! I wasn't aware of Acey's love of firework poppers! That WILL keep you on your toes! Your new house looks gorgeous. How exciting to be moving after all your hard work! You guys are amazing. Good luck today and I hope you continue to have a good week! Love to you all..Joni
ReplyDeleteHi Gidget - It's good to see you are posting still. It is really good to hear that you have done so well since No. 6. We were kind of concerned since we didn't hear how it was going.
ReplyDeleteSure wish we could see your house now. It must really look nice. We talked to Meridee and she got us up to date.
We will pray that everything goes well this morning and that you will be able to go right on with No. 7.
We love you all - Ed and Joyce
What a beautiful place to walk. I'm glad you are doing okay. I still want to see you in person!! Does your new house have that wonderful view? How great is that!! I'm closing on a new Condo at the end of this month. A lot of changes. Keep us posted and know we all love you!!
ReplyDeleteHey Kids (I can say that now that I am 50!):
ReplyDeleteI have your amazing little Acey sound asleep in our king sized bed. He looks like he needs the whole bed to himself! Between Tonka, Acey and I sharing the bed it should be a very interesting night.
Gidge I am really happy that you were able to have your chemo session today and also that you are the downward side now! Keep up the walks, from what I have read on the Internet that is such an important part of colon cancer.
Okay, time to call it a night and go fight for bed space. I love you guys.

Hi, Gidget
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that this past week wasn't too hard on you. You are doing such a fantastic job drawing from inner strength I bet you didn't even know you had. Of course I know that Jay and Acey's love (along with all of the rest of us that are rooting for you- and there are so many!) is helping tremendously.
I'm glad you are keeping up with the walking- and with the weather getting nicer and nicer it will be even more appealing. Keep it up, Lady! I am proud of you! Love, Michelle
