Hi All,
Just wanted to catch everyone up on the latest.
My next real doctor's appointment will be November 29th. At that time, the Specialist will determine which type of surgery I will need (laparoscopic or open) to remove the polyp they found during the last colonoscopy. I am crossing my fingers that I won't have to spend any time in the hospital.
I don't remember if I mentioned this in my past posts. But, when I found out I had cancer, my first thought was to escape, to run... far, far, away. I imagined myself getting in my car, driving to the airport and leaving.... anywhere. Somewhere where I could escape reality, and pretend the whole thing never happened. On the day of my surgery (while Jay was checking me in to the hospital), I asked my brother Sean to take me to the airport. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), he wouldn't agree to do it.
Over this past year, Jay has promised that if I did whatever the doctors said, he would take me somewhere tropical. Somewhere I would be able to put my feet in the sand and spend quality time with my boys :). Well, he kept that promise. We are leaving for Maui next week, and I can't wait to get to the beach, kick back, and reflect on this past year. Can you believe it's almost been a year? Boy time flies when your counting down chemo treatments :).... LOL!!
The other thing I wanted to do after finishing treatment was to go on a trip with my mom and brother. Some of my fondest memories growing up were the vacations the three of us went on. My mom would bring a certain amount of cash and once the money was gone, it was time to return home. Needless to say, we stretched that money as far as we could.
So, a couple of weeks ago, the three of us took a trip to Las Vegas. We had the BEST time. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
The highlight was going to Cher's concert. We were right up front, about five rows back, and I tell you nothing on her jiggled. I would love to have her body. She is awesome, and no, Sean didn't get her number... He gave it his best shot though.
We will likely go back some day to visit our money... HA...
You can see some more photos here: 2010 Vegas trip.
I will let you know as things come up. We will also try to blog some on our vacation. But, I'm sure you will understand if we don't :).

Hi Gidget, Jay and Little Man - It's good to hear from you. You should continue the blogs even after the original reason for them is completely gone.
ReplyDeleteWe sure enjoyed our two trips to Maui and I know you will too. If you go to the top of Haleakala to catch the sunrise, be sure to wear WARM clothing. We nearly froze to death the first time we did it. The second time we were aware of the problem and dressed warmly.
Gidget, it sounds and looks like you had a great tip to Las Vegas with your mother and Sean. We enjoyed the pictures.
Love you all and hope you have a great vacation.

Hey Gidge,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for including me in your journey. I could just feel for you when you said you wanted to run away.......I'd probably do the same thing. So glad Sean didn't comply to your wishes. Have fun in Maui, I'll be thinking of you! You deserve some time in the sun and sand. We get to go to the big island in April. Never been there before. :-)
Wanted to let you know we're coming up for Thanksgiving again this year. Not sure if you'll be around to visit. Jeff's family wanted to spend the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving at the Great Wolf Lodge. Remember when we stopped to see you there? It would be fun if you were there again. If not, I'd love to come up to see you wherever you are if you'll be around. Take care. You look gorgeous! :-)
