Acey brought his skateboard that his Dad recently gave him. The same skateboard I remember Jay using 24 years ago when we attended college in Hawaii. Hard to believe we now have a son, the spitting image of his Dad :)!! I couldn't resist letting Acey ride his skateboard in the PT "NO SKATEBOARDING" area. Having cancer puts life in perspective and makes me want to break some rules I might not have in the past ;)...

I have my days of ups and downs, but overall, I have been feeling pretty well considering what I have been through. The hardest part for me at this point is feeling weak and tired. Some days I could literally sleep the entire day away. But, I have been walking every day, which gets me out and breathing fresh air. Walking and exercising was one of the things the doctors have stressed I need to do to fight this disease. Many have said it is as important as the chemo. Jay and I have taken that to heart and I believe it has helped with my mental state of mind as well. It prevents me from laying around and feel sorry for myself.
I am very thankful for all the kind words, thoughts, prayers, cards, etc, etc. I don't think I can every express how much that has meant to me.
I love all of you,
Gidget

Hey Gidge:
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you are feeling better! Be easy on yourself and sleep when you can. It takes a full year after major surgery for your body to heal so remember that when you get tired and frustrated. It's fantastic that you are out walking so much and have made it a family event as much as possible. How cool is just down to earth family time! Away from the phones, TV, computers and other distractions that fill our lives. I had a major problem figuring this blog thing out and sent three emails to you instead. My other blogs said how proud I am of all three of you and that I am in awe of how strong and cohesive the three of you are together. Jay, you are awesome and I can't tell you how much I admire what a wonderful husband, father and brotheryou are. To all of the rest of you out there in blog land...IF I can figure this out so can the rest of you. Let's flood this blog site until Jay and Gidge beg for us to stop!!! Love Merd
P.S. With my vast expiernce blogging (HA,HA this is my first) I chose the Name/URL selection and simply put my name in without the URL and that seemed to get me through the next stage.
What a great site! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteGidget, You forgot to mention the all important BEAD shop! I know you said you were "good" but I'm not sure what that means?
Meridee hit it right on the head- the three of you are awesome together! I am so happy you have each other to lean on as you go through this tough experience. And I know you are aware of how many of us are pulling for you every step of the way. Jay, Gidget has said so many times how fortunate she is to have your strength and that she couldn't do it without you.
Gidget, I'm so glad you are walking daily- when I'm out there this summer it will be fun to get together as often as possible for a "walk and talk". AND you are becoming as "techie" as Jay- look at you posting on a blog! Wow! Love you guys, Michelle
Merd/Michelle- Thanks for the kind words and the encouragement! We're going to get through this... We just need to keep working (walking/exercising), eating healthy, and (of course) going through treatment. The three of us can do all of that (except for the actual chemo infusions) as a family. Acey is one awesome little nurse/helper. He loves to be involved, and he really is incredibly thoughtful for a nine-year-old. We love him quite a little bit!
ReplyDeleteLove, Jay
I'm glad to hear you are getting around. I love Port Townsend and it is a nice, little get away. Don't tired yourself out though. Any chance of me coming to visit you at CCA? If you only want Jay there, I understand. I miss my BFF! :)
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Laurie
Everyone,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice comments :). I think Jay did a wonderful job putting this blog together. It may appear like I know what I am doing, but it is only smoke and mirrors. I have MUCH to learn.
Laurie- I will contact you soon to get together. I have to first see how I will feel during my chemo tx. I miss you as well.
Hi Gidget and Jay:
ReplyDeleteTonka woke me up to go outside and then of course was not interested in anything but playing. He is alternating on chewing his toy and my ankle right now! Gidget, we all are thinking about you and sending positive thoughts 24 hours a day. Eat, eat and eat again to put on a little bit more weight. I know that Jay is bugging you all of the time about eating and he is right. The stronger your body is over the next six months the better your treatment will go. I hate to say this... but listen to your husband! If you ever repeat that back to me I will probably flip you the bird! Love Merd
Merd-
ReplyDeleteThat part where you said "Jay is right..." I LOVE that! From my own sister? Really? I might have to print that out and have it framed!
Too funny that you're posting at 1 o'clock in the morning... with a puppy chewing on your ankles! I can't wait to see the little monster (or is he big now?) on Sunday. Acey is totally stoked to be staying with you guys this weekend, too.
Love, Jay
Hi Gidget - This is a first for me. I've never blogged as such. I use instant messaging on Skype for my work, but that is different.
ReplyDeleteWell, today is the big day for your first chemo treatment. I want you to know that it has been in our minds down here. Of course Mother and Bobby and Sister don't have email, but we are keeping them aware of your schedule and the good progress you have already made.
In fact I misunderstood your schedule and had them all programmed for your first treatment last Friday, so we got a one week headstart on lifting up prayers for you. I can assure you that you have many, many of your extended family praying for your complete and total healing.
My prayer today has been that the treatment will be comfortable for you to handle and that the recovery will be fast.
We send you all our love. You are a very important part of our family.
