Gidget's first update

Hi All,

I am sorry if sending this in an email seems impersonal. As many of you know, I have not felt well for quite awhile. I have seen many "Specialists" who have told me, "you are young... healthy... you need to change your diet...exercise...take vitamins...etc, etc...I can't find anything wrong with you..."

After losing 30 pounds over the last 6 months, my Mom begged me to go to JUST ONE MORE SPECIALIST. So, on Wednesday, Jay and I met with just one more. After he ran some tests, I was told that he found a tumor and I have Colon Cancer.

Thankfully, my Mom had come to Seattle because she knew I was going in for more testing. I think her Mother's intuition kicked in and she knew it wasn't going to be good news. So, she was able to be a distraction for Acey during Thanksgiving, and Jay and I were able to let it sink in. Though, really I don't think it has.

I will be going for a CAT scan on Monday to determine if the cancer has spread and what stage it is in. After that I will have surgery, beyond that, I don't know.

Anyway, I just wanted to keep you informed. Also, encourage you to seek second, third, fourth.... opinions, when you know you don't feel well!!!
