CAT Scan results :-)

Hi All,

Just wanted to update everyone on how my CAT Scan went. We were told that the scan shows no indication of cancer cells. While this is good news, Dr. Whiting did tell us that the most common window for cancer returning is between 6 months and 2 1/2 yrs out from my last chemo treatment. But, so far, so good :). Keep those prayers and good thoughts coming... it seems to be working :)

The next test will be another colonoscopy, which will be scheduled sometime within the next few weeks. I will be sure to update everyone at that time. The colonoscopy is needed because the CAT Scan is able to see inside most of your internal organs, but unable to see inside of your colon. WOW... who would have thought that I would be talking so casually about colons :)....LOL!!! At this point, I'm used to hearing about all of my internal organs in medical lingo, so it all seems very scientific... and sureal.

Now that that's out of the way, I would like to take this time to REALLY THANK EVERYONE who has sent me well wishes, thoughts and prayers. I can't even begin to tell you how much it has meant to me. While finding out I have cancer has not been a walk in the park, in many ways it has been a blessing. I know that is hard to imagine, but being diagnosed has really put my life in perspective. I appreciate the little things and the important people in my life. I really appreciate my friends and family, and I hope you know how very much I am thankful to have you all in my life. I cherish all of you!!!

Much love,

Gidget

  3. Gidget - Thanks for your update. We knew the CAT Scan was clear, but it is still good to know that you have come through so wonderfully well. We and many, many others will continue to keep you in our prayers through the colonoscopy and beyond.

It has been very evident to us that this has changed your outlook on life. It may sound strange to others who have not seen you during this time, but Joyce and I have noticed that you seem to more joyful than ever before. It speaks very well for you and for your entire family as to how you have faced a very difficult situation.

We love you all - Ed/Papa/Dad and Joyce/Grandma Joyce

  7. Hey Folks:
Let me expound on what my Dad (Ed/Dad/Papa) said about Gidgets spirit for those of you that don't get to see her. Gidget has always been fun loving and fun to be around but these days she is FULL of LIFE, giggly, silly and so happy. A couple of weeks ago we were all floating down a river on a white water rafting trip and we all had a blast! How many cancer patients would do that kind of thing instead of holing up and focusing on their problem? I can see that her new perspective on life is so much better for her and it's a lesson that we all need to learn. Gidget, you are one strong woman and I am proud to call you my Sister in Law.
    Love Merd

  8. Gidget,
It has taken me a few days to comment- but since I had already talked with Jay I knew you knew how thrilled I was to hear about the CAT scan results. I have to strongly echo what my Dad and Meridee have said- it is so clear that you have used this tough and scary experience in a positive way and have done (with the support of so many that love you, especially Jay and Acey) such a great job focusing on the many joys in life. I am so proud of you and like Merd said so happy to call you "sister". Every morning before I get out of bed I focus on 3 or 4 things that I am thankful for. Lately one or two of those things have been focused on you: how well you have been doing and how happy I am that you are in our family. Love, Michelle

  12. Jay,

Once again, I've failed to figure out how to respond to Gidget on Acey's World - so I'm going to let you pass along my message. While I've long been a fan of yours, I've barely met Gidget, and that was years ago. Even so I want to tell her how glad I am for her recovery. And to say that she has been a model of courage and optimism during this ordeal. All three of you have been.

Thanks for keeping me apprised. And best wishes to all of you.

    Erv
